Personal Interests Crochet Geometric Squares 3
I made this afghan using traditional granny squares of various sizes using the join-as-you-go method.
This afghan was made using Lion Brand Color Waves yarn: 6 skeins of Lava (B), and 8 of Carribbean (A). I also used a J crochet hook and yarn needle. Rnd 1. Like a traditional granny square in Color A. Further rounds as needed, alternating colours with each Round. Rnd 2: Join with slip stitch in any dc. *Dc in each dc across to corner, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner. Repeat from * around. Dc to initial chain if needed. Join with slip stitch. Change colour. Rnd 3-12 as needed: Repeat Rnd 2, changing colour after each round. You need squares of of 1-Round size through 12-Round size according the following quantities:
1 Round: 13 Assemble with a whip stitch from the back side, according to the diagram below. I found it useful to line up corners where edges met, building smaller chunks that could be filled in, and then lined up with other larger pieces.
Border: Each round of the border is done in sc in each stitch across, with 3 sc in each corner. Rnd 1 in Colour B. Rnd 2 in Color A. Round 3 in Color B. Fasten off.
This afghan is part of a series of afghans I made using squares of differing sizes. Each one was made with squares of different types: random solid colours, different colour rounds, alternating colour rounds, same size/same colour, etc. Feel free to mix and match. Check out the whole series:
