Personal Interests Wine Serving Wine
When serving wine, there are a number of things to keep in mind. One that requires some preparation is the serving temperature. Wines are best when served at certain temperatures depending on the type of wine. Obviously, if you preference deviates from this, feel free to ignore the advice, but I have found that the recommended times are actually recommended for a reason. :)
Chilling can be achieved by placing the room temperature bottle of wine (about 70 degrees F) in an ice water bath. If the ambient temperature is warmer, you will need to adjust cooling times accordingly. Chilling can also be achieved by chilling sparkling and white wines and removing them from the frig about 10-20 minutes respectively prior to pouring. And putting your reds into the frig about 20 minutes before serving. Red drinkers, note: if you are storing open reds in the frig, remove them from the frig up to 40 minutes before consuming them or they will be too cold.
