Stripes in 3 overlaid patterns

stripes afghan

This afghan was made from 10 colours: 6 lighter ones and 4 darker ones.  You'll need less than a 3.5 oz skein for each lighter shade and a bit more than a skein for each darker shade.  I used mostly Caron Simply Soft, but any similar yarn will do. I used Color A: pale yellow, Color B: silver grey, Color C: rouge (an orange color), Color D: pale olive green, Color E: black, Color F: burgundy, Color G: honey beige, Color H: dark teal, Color I: dusty pink, Color J: white.  And an H crochet hook.  However, this is also a great afghan for scraps and leftovers if the remaining patterns are maintained.

Details will be given below but each sequence of light colours works as a block, though the sequence in each block is not necessarily maintained since complete cycles of all patterns aren't possible as they are different sizes.  Similarly for dark colours.  This is to say that for each sequence of dark colours: black, burgundy, rouge and teal, each one appears once, but not necessarily in the same order each time.

The stripes are laid out by colour in the following pattern:

LLDLDDLDLLDLLDLDDLDLLDLDDLDLLDL

Where L stands for a light colour and D stands for a dark colour.  Furthermore, every fourth stripes is double wide, so you see three thin stripes, followed by a wide stripe, etc.
