Personal Interests Crochet Snake
The name comes from the old computer game Snake.
This afghan was made with one main color (MC) espresso, and 10 contrasting colours (A-J or 1-10): A(1)=Monet, B(2)=Fall, C(3)=Blueberry Pie, D(4)=Marakesh, E(5)=Desert Sand, F(6)=Zebra, G(7)=Ocean Delight, H(8)=Rambling Rose, I(9)=Urban Camo, J(10)=Seagrass. You'll need 3-5 oz of each colour A-J, and about 24 oz of the MC. (Note that the layout below notes 11 colours, but 1 and 11 are the same colour in my afghan.) I used a H crochet hook and join-as-you-go to assemble. Square: Ch 13. Join with slip stitch to form ring. Rnd 1: Ch 5, (dc, ch 5, dc, ch 2) 3 times, dc, ch 5. Slip stitch to 3 chain in initial ch-5. Rnd 2: Ch 3. *2 dc in ch-2 space, dc in dc, (3 dc, ch 5, 3 dc) in ch-5 space, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, omitting the last dc. Join with slip stitch to top of initial chain. Fasten off. After the first square, join as you go with the following changes along one or two sides: Replace the 3rd chain of the chain-5 space with a slip stitch to the adjoining square. Between 2 dc in ch-2 space, slip stitch to adjoining square between the 2 dc in matching ch-2 space, and replace the 3rd chain of the next ch-5 space with a slip stitch to the adjoining square. You will need 270 total squares in the following quantities:
MC: 142 squares The layout is shown below.
To seal off the seems, I used a simple sc-border in the MC.
