Personal Interests Crochet Diagonal Grannies You will need 4 shades of yarn: Colors A-D. I used A: Teal Twist, B: Teal Heather, C: Black, D: Mint in soft boucle. Crochet hook size L. Each square is made with the standard granny square pattern with two strands held together with rows arranged as follows: Square 1: 2 rows color A, 1 row in color B, 1 row in color C. Make 6. Square 2: 2 rows A, 1 row C, 1 row B. Make 12. Square 3: 1 row D, 1 row C, 1 row B, 1 row C. Make 12. Square 4: 2 rows B/C (one strand of each), 1 row A, 1 row B. Make 10. Square 5: 1 row B, 2 rows D, 1 row C. Make 8. Square 6: 1 row B/D (one strand of each), 1 row C/D, 1 row C, 1 row B. Make 6. Square 7: 1 row C, 1 row B, 1 row D, 1 row C. Make 4. Square 8: 1 row A, 1 row D, 1 row C, 1 row B. Make 2. Assemble as you go. On the last round of the last round, replace chains between dc clusters with slip stitch in chain space on adjoining square. (Or whip stitch if you prefer.) Use the pattern displayed in image to assemble. Border: Join color C at corner with slip stitch, ch 1, 5 sc in corner, and 1 sc in each stitch across. Repeat around. slip stitch to initial chain. Fasten off.
You can rearrange the squares for a slightly different look, for instance swapping Square 6 with Square 2.
