Contrast Colour Squares

contrast squares

Each square is each made with 5 colours, A, B, C, D, E in various orders.  I use 3.5-4 oz of each of 8 colours, and 8 oz of the Main Colour.  I used a J crochet hook, and a yarn needle for stitching the squares together.

I made my afghan with 4 shades of teal, with 1 the lightest shade and 4 the darkest, labeled T1, T2, T3, T4, along with 5 orange shades labeled 1 as the lightest and 5 the darkest, labeled O1, O2, O3, O4, O5, with O5 used as the main colour.  However, you can choose any two colours you like that are good contrasting colours: blue and yellow, green and red, purple and black, or any contrasting pair.

I made 8 types of squares, 6 of each type for 48 total squares.  The colours are ordered as follows:

1. O4, T3, O1, T4, O5
2. T4, O1, O4, T3, O5
3. T1, O3, T2, O2, O5
4. O2, T2, T1, O3, O5
5. T4, T3, T2, T1, O5
6. O1, O2, O3, O4, O5
7. T3, T2, O2, O4, O5
8. O3, O1, T4, T1, O5

The squares are laid out in the following pattern:
