Eratosthenes

Eratosthenes, well, he's my #1 classical hero, and really, my intellectual model for my life.  His nickname was "Beta" because he was said to be the second best at everything.  Which, to me, seems like a pretty fair distinction.  I know a lot of people really want to be #1, but never having been that much of a perfectionist, being #1 got old.  Being #2 at everything... well, since I consider my best strength to be synthesis, being very, very good at more than one thing seems like the perfect niche for me.  I even tattooed the letter 'beta' on my body.   Because of his extraordinary abilities, he was made Librarian of the Great Library of Alexandria.
